PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

E2U Stem Coat is a solvent-free acrylic based primer for stem walls and other vertical surfaces. It provides superior adhesion to concrete or painted surfaces in order to apply decorative flakes. Stem Coat is a single component and easy to apply decorative flakes onto the stem walls or steps. E2U Stem Coat is uniform in color and resistant to fading or discoloration due to exposure to UV light. Stem Coat also provides excellent water resistance to decrease spalling, cracking and surface degradation. Top coat with Polyaspartic 85 Ultra for a glossy long lasting surface.

CONCRETE PREPARATION

Surfaces to be sealed must be clean, dry, and free of oil, stains and silicone compounds. Do not apply E2U Stem Coat until all traces of curing compounds have been completely dissipated. Substrate to be coated must be moisture free. Dries to touch in 1 to 2 hours and may be opened to normal traffic after 24 hours, heavy traffic after 72 hours. Do not apply if air temperature and/ or temperature of substrate are less than 50 degrees F.  

PATCHING

Voids, cracks and imperfections will be seen in finished coating if the concrete is not patched correctly. E2U’s Joint Filler (Crack Repair) and/or E2U’s Rapid Mender to fill cracks and imperfections. After the materials are cured, diamond grind patch. If another patching material is used, contact a E2U technical representative for a compatible and approved alternative.  

TESTING

All surfaces are not the same. It is recommended that a sample area be done before the start of the project. The test should be done on-site, using the proposed method by the assigned applicator to ensure proper adhesion and color. A sample area should also be done on any existing coatings to determine if any contaminants exist or if delaminating will occur.

CLEAN UP

Equipment should be immediately cleaned with soap and water.  

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

E2U Stem Coat may be applied by a brush, roller, lamb’s wool applicator or industrials prayer. Avoid any excessive buildup or puddling of product.  

WARNING! SLIP AND FALL PRECAUTIONS

OSHA and the American Disabilities Act (ADA) have now set enforceable standards for slip resistance on pedestrian surfaces. The current coefficient of friction required by ADA is .6 on level surfaces and .8 on ramps. E2U Flooring recommends the use of angular slip-resistant aggregate in all coatings or flooring systems that may be exposed to wet, oily or greasy conditions. It is the contractor and end users’ responsibility to provide a flooring system that meets current safety standards. E2U or its sales agents will not be responsible for injury incurred in a slip and fall accident.
